RepelShell® for Coating Resins

RepelShell® is an additive that, when blended into coatings, creates highly repellent omniphobic surfaces. RepelShell can be used in a wide range of coating resins that require improved resistance to water, oil, or staining. Below are examples of two of the applications being commercialized.

unique high performance omniphobic additive

RepelShell® transforms the surface of almost any coating by improving its repellency to water, oil, and stains. As only low loadings of RepelShell are required to achieve the desired performance, the impact on critical durability and mechanical properties of the coating are minimized.

omniphobic filters and membranes

The performance of non-woven filter media or microporous membranes can be enhanced significantly through the incorporation of Repelshell in the fiber or membrane polymer. Filters or membranes composed of RepelShell containing polymer will have reduced fouling, be easier to clean, and can be reused without a loss in efficiency or increase in pressure drop.

industrial coatings that reduce adhesion of hydrocarbon waxes

RepelShell can be incorporated into coating resins, enabling industrial coatings with omniphobic characteristics that are highly resistant to the adhesion and deposition of heavy hydrocarbons and waxy materials. Exterior and interior surfaces of pipes, ducts, and metalwork coated with these omniphobic coatings will stay clean longer, minimizing downtime and the need for routine cleaning.
